Project Description

Mike Broome recently celebrated his 20th Anniversary with Falcon Fastening. Mike is Falcon’s Quality Control and Strategic Sourcing Manager. Luckily, he was able to take a few minutes out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions about his many years of service.

Q: What was your first day?
A: March 16th 1997.

Q: What was your first position?
A: I started in the warehouse as a “Warehouse Guy”. Basically, I helped with picking, packing, shipping and receiving. My supervisor was Carl Morell.

Q: What was your first impression of Falcon Fastening?
A: On day one I remember being told how critical my position was not just for our clients, but for U.S. Manufacturing. We were the last ones to ‘see’ the product before it shipped to the customer. It was my job to ensure the customer received the right quantity of the right part, at the right time, every time. Customer service was, and still is the primary concern of all Falcon employees. The “wow” factor on my first day was definitely the difference between what I thought a fastener was and the enormous variety of “widgets” and “nic-nacs” I saw in the warehouse and the realization that 95% of them were custom made for each of our clients. It was a little intimidating but it was also intriguing. Of course, everyone at Falcon was very welcoming and supportive.

Q: What other departments have you contributed to?
A: Aside from Warehouse, Strategic Sourcing and Quality Control I’ve also been a Client Advocate and Business Development Specialist.

Q: What do you like best about your current position?
A: The roles I play in the company allow me to interact with pretty much everyone on any given day. The people I work with at Falcon mean a lot to me and it is important to me to have the opportunity to interact with all of my Falcon family on a daily basis.

Q: What you like best about Falcon and being part of the Falcon team?
A: Everyone at Falcon takes pride in doing the right things well. Corners are never cut and pennies are never pinched when it comes to delivering the best service in our industry. Family is also very important at Falcon and that means a lot to me. There’s not a day that goes by that someone does not ask about my children, my wife, or any situation I have going on in my life. We truly care about one another and I think that is extremely rare in this day and age.

Q: What do you do in your free time?
A: I spend most of my free time coaching baseball, exercising, studying the bible, spending time with extended family, playing with my children and the neighborhood kids, and enjoying as much time with my beautiful bride as she allows. Ha Ha!
